Two homebrew splash screens for the new Mozilla components, which will eventually become the stand-alone browser and mail clients for the suite. Firebird 0.6 is out now, while Thunderbird 0.1 is coming soon.
The stripe motif is based on some of Slater's splash screens, which I've been using (and modifying) for Mozilla from 1.0 to 1.4. The oh-so-sweet logos are Lim Chee Aun's work, who also happens to be the creator of the Phoenity set of themes. All of this is licensed under the Creative Commons License.
As new versions of the software come out, and as the names of the components change, so will the splash screens. Currently, Firebird's splash screen handling is bugged, but to display the screen in the future, simply save the bitmap as "phoenix.bmp" in the directory where Firebird resides, and run Firebird with the -splash command line modifier. As far as I can tell, Thunderbird doesn't support splash screens yet. On the other hand, the project has only recently begun to spit out nightly builds, so my guess is that splash screens are right beside "Make Thunderbird cook dinner and set the table" on the list of priorities.
